Oh, boys and their toys.  Fast cars, souped up lawnmowers, power tools… but it doesn’t always mean motor boats and table saws. While Tim has his fair share of power tools and things, his toys are what hangs on his belt and what goes in his pockets on a daily basis.

It’s called an everyday carry – basically what you have on you at all times. But for Tim and a lot of other guys it goes beyond your wallet, keys, and phone. It’a  REAL THING.  It has its own hashtag on Instagram, and a lot of video bloggers are making videos featuring their EDC.

For today’s Thursday Top Three we’re taking a look at Tim’s EDC and his three favorite items.

  1. Wallet
  2. multi-tool in handmade Kydex holster
  3. Mini tape measure
  4. Pocket knife with seatbelt cutter and window breaker
  5. Pocket flashlight
  6. Pen
  7. Lighter
  8. Shop rag

So what are Timmy’s favorite items?

Flashlight. LED mini light.  Tim uses it for obvious things  like seeing in the dark when he comes into the house after work, and less obvious things like looking
for things he’s dropped in his car.  It is a cheap flashlight be bought off the Wish App. I couldn’t find the exact one on the website.

  2. Pen. It’s a Bic 4-Color Retractable Ballpoint Pen with Blue Barrel.  When I asked Tim what he really likes about it he said, “There are four colors to choose from.” Fair enough.  It is a cool pen indeed. He must use it at work because I’ve never really seen him writing anything at home…

  3. Multitool. It’a  a Gerber Flik Multi-Plier, and according to Gerber’s website, it features
  • Saf.T.Plus™
  • Stainless Steel
  • Needle Nose Pliers
  • Fine Edge Blade
  • Serrated Blade

  • Saw
  • Phillips Driver
  • Small & Medium Flat Drivers
  • Bottle and Can Opener
  • Scissors
  • V Cut Wire Cutters
  • Lanyard Ring

I’m betting Tim has used every one of those features.  He is busting out his multitool all the time to take care of some small situation, like cutting open a blister pack in the car or putting batteries in one of the kid’s toys. It always seems ridiculous for him to carry around such an involved tool, until it comes in handy. He makes sure to give me a “I told you so” look every time.

Another thing that is cool about Tim’s FliK is the the holster it’s in he made himself.  It is made of a material called Kydex, which is a plastic that is malleable when heated but is very hard and durable once cooled, and held together by rivets.

Well, that is it! When I was trying to get ideas from Tim on a new Thursday Top Three I was reluctant to feature his ‘everyday carry’ because frankly, I think it is silly. But, like Tim said, “It’s my page, too.” So here you go Tim, a post about you and your quirkiness and wonderfulness.  I love you.
