Feeling like your decor is blah? Boring walls and furniture got ya down? Are your solid color linens a snooze? Try on some pattern! Prints are such an excellent way to add color and interest to your decor. They can be whimsical, classic, or trendy – just like my top three! That’s right, Thursday top three coming at ya! This week I am bringing you three must have patterns for your home.
Here they are…
I have always loved polka dots. They’re just fun. Tiny little polka dots can even be sophisticated. When we start sprucing up Ivy’s room I want to get the vinyl stick on ones for a wall or two! To me, polka dots are footloose and fancy-free.
Stripes are just plain classy. They fit into tons of design senses: modern, nautical, traditional, shabby chic… they are amazingly versatile. I am going to lump chevron in with stripes, and Lord knows how popular chevron has been. The chevron hysteria seems to be passing some, but I have to say I love the chevron laundry basket that I bought for Reid’s nursery!
Fun and bold, tribal has been hot lately, and I love it! There are so many shapes and colors to choose from. I have not found the perfect piece to incorporate tribal pattern into our home, but I have been on the look out for a nice throw rug for the living room. I’d love to get an authentic handmade piece, but that shiz is out of my price range. I’m having a hard time finding one that I can afford that doesn’t seem to cheapen or exploit Native American heritage.
Don’t be afraid to mix up your prints in a cohesive color pallet for an eclectic look sure to impress 😉
Well, that wraps things up for this week! For photo sources on the above pictures, visit my Pinterest board “Color, Pattern, Design“.

PS- I am hoping to incorporate multimedia video into the Thursday Top Three in the coming weeks, so watch out for that. I just have to get over my camera shyness 😉
